Toddler killed, parents injured in road mishap

BACOLOD City – A three-year-old girl died while her parents were wounded after their motorcycle was hit by a 10-wheeler truck along Circumferential road, Barangay Villamonte here yesterday.
The name of the fatality was withheld.
Wounded were Jude Jett Areglo, 40, of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, and Sheila Mae Niem, 23.
Based on a police report, the truck driven by Jemmy Panes of Victorias City was tailing the motorcycle driven by Areglo.
The motorcycle stopped at a traffic light but Panes allegedly tried to beat the red light, causing him to collide with the motorcycle.
Areglo lost control of the motorcycle, leading them to fall to the ground.
The truck then ran over the child which resulted in her immediate death.
Police are preparing the filing of charges against the truck driver who is detained at Police Station 4.
Over the weekend, a motorcycle rider also died after he hit a truck that executed a left turn in Barangay Banago here last Saturday.
