A toddler in Estancia, Iloilo, died from drowning early in the afternoon of Sept. 17.
The victim, 2-year-old John, was found floating in a creek around 10 meters away from their residence in Barangay Cadagmayan Sur, Sta. Barbara.
Reports said his 67-year-old grandfather, Alfredo, lost sight of him for a brief moment.
At around 1 p.m. Tuesday, the grandfather began searching for his grandson.
He sought help from neighbors, and they found the boy’s body in the creek an hour later.
The child was immediately brought to the Western Visayas Sanitarium and General Hospital in Sta. Barbara town but was declared dead on arrival.
The family said they will no longer request an autopsy, believing that there was no foul play in the toddler’s death.
