TOBOSO, Negros Occ. – Mayor Richard Jaojoco confirmed that a town councilor was taken to a government hospital here Friday after suffering from fever for a week now.
Jaojoco said the 65-year-old male councilor attended the Philippine Councilors ‘ League in Manila and returned to the town on Feb. 28.
The councilor attended their session Tuesday despite his fever although he already went to a local physician for consultation.
He said the councilor is considered a Person under Monitoring (PUM) but may become a Person under Investigation (PUI) as he will be admitted to a hospital and will undergo tests.
PUIs are patients with symptoms and with a history of travel to China including Hong Kong and Macau and other infected areas and had exposure to a positive case.
PUMs are patients with no symptoms but with a history of travel to infected areas and exposure to a positive case.
Jaojoco said he has instructed other councilors to go on home quarantine.
The entire town hall, as well as the two barangays near the councilor’s house, will also be disinfected.
Living with the councilor is his grandchild. The school in the area was also disinfected.
The municipal council will not hold their session for two weeks, Jaojoco said.
Aside from fever, the councilor is also suffering from shortness of breath.
Jaojoco also said the other PUM in the town was a British national who arrived on March 3 via Cebu to visit a friend in the town.
Since two nights ago, the British national was suffering from diarrhea and was admitted to a private hospital in Bacolod City.
Dr. Julius Drilon, chief of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, here said that the capitol employee who was admitted Thursday is in stable condition.
