TAGATIG Tigbauan, a group of artists from Tigbauan, Iloilo, is taking the spotlight this Easter season with the “Easter Art Masters” exhibit at Festive Walk Iloilo in Mandurriao, Iloilo City, which opened March 21.
The exhibit, which runs until April 21, features hand-painted giant Easter eggs that reinterpret traditional Easter symbols through distinctly local narratives.
Drawing from everyday Ilonggo life, nature and cultural motifs, the works recast familiar holiday imagery as expressions of identity and place.
Leading the showcase are Jason Bandong, Sid Tendencia, Clark Soriano, John Christian Barrios and Jeff Ryan Modilla, each presenting a distinct visual approach.
Collectively, their pieces explore themes of renewal and harmony while incorporating elements of Ilonggo culture and local heritage.
The exhibit forms part of broader cultural initiatives at Megaworld Iloilo Business Park, which the Iloilo City government designated as the city’s center for arts and culture under Executive Order No. 021, Series of 2025, issued by Mayor Raisa Treñas.
The 72-hectare township has hosted a growing number of art, heritage and museum programs, positioning itself as a platform for regional artists and cultural groups.
Alongside the exhibit, Festive Walk Iloilo will host “Easter Wonderland” on April 5 at the Indoor Atrium, with activities for families and children as part of the mall’s Easter celebration lineup.
Nearby, the Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art continues to draw visitors with French artist Henri Lamy’s exhibition “Sovereign Faces,” which runs until May 17.
The show features textured portraits exploring identity, representation and the evolving role of women across cultures through Lamy’s signature palette-knife technique and kinetic expressionist style.
