TIEZA funds PHP 61 million Roxas Airport renovation

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) will provide PHP 61 million for the interior renovation of the Roxas Airport passenger terminal.
TIEZA General Manager Mark Lapid visited Roxas Airport on Tuesday to inspect the facility and assess the project to be undertaken by the agency.
Lapid was accompanied by Capiz 1st District Rep. Howard Guintu during the inspection.
Lapid said the PHP 61 million project will cover improvements to the interior of the airport terminal.
The renovation is intended to make the terminal more comfortable for passengers and more visually appealing to tourists arriving in Capiz.
Lapid said that once the renovation begins, TIEZA and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) will also work on adding and improving airport facilities.
The improvements are expected to enhance airport facilities and services for passengers and tourists visiting the province.
The TIEZA-funded project comes amid broader efforts to modernize Roxas Airport, where plans have included improvements to arrival and departure areas and other passenger facilities.
Earlier redevelopment plans for the airport carried an allocation of more than PHP 420 million, including PHP 160 million for improvements to the passenger terminal area.
After the airport inspection, Lapid proceeded to the Capiz Provincial Capitol, where he met Gov. Fredenil “Oto” Castro.
They discussed possible TIEZA support for the rehabilitation of Villareal Stadium and the completion of the Capiz Convention Center.
