BACOLOD City – Three women believed to be high-ranking officials of the New People’s Army (NPA) were arrested at Sitio Victory, Barangay Minapasok, Calatrava, Negros Occidental last Thursday.
Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte, commander of 303rd Infantry Brigade (IBde), said the Philippine National Police (PNP)-Special Action Force (SAF) and Army’s 79th Infantry Battalion (IB) responded to a report on the alleged presence of armed individuals at the said area.
While the government forces were conducting patrol operation, they sighted the suspects allegedly carrying firearms and explosives.
Authorities recovered from them an M14 rifle, three revolvers with ammunition, four rifle grenades, eight cellular phones, medicines, and subversive documents with high intelligence value.
The suspects, who refused to provide their names, according to the police, are now under the custody of Calatrava Municipal Police Station.
Pasaporte said they are currently investigating their identities and affiliation.
