Three consecutive quakes rocked the province of Antique on Tuesday morning, August 9, 2022.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) monitored the three consecutive quakes late morning of Tuesday. Fortunately, there were no reported damages.
The first earthquake with a 3.4 magnitude jolted Antique at 9:50 a.m. Phivolcs monitored the location at Anini-y, Antique with a depth of 17 kilometers. Intensity IV was also felt in other areas of Anini-y, Antique and Intensity I in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique.
It was followed by the second earthquake which hit Anini-y, Antique at 10:37 a.m. The second earthquake has a magnitude of 3.0 with a depth of 8 km. Instrumental intensities were also felt in other parts of the town.
The third quake, which was the strongest among the three, rocked Anini-y, Antique at 10:52 a.m. Phivolcs reported that the 4.7 magnitude quake has a depth of 18 km. Instrumental intensities were also experienced in other parts of Anini-y, Antique.
The local government unit (LGU) of Anini-y reported that the town recorded zero incidents and damages caused by the quake. However, the town remains under heightened alert, according to the provincial government. (DG)
