ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Three persons were arrested by police for alleged illegal logging Wednesday at Brgy. Duyoc in Dao, Capiz.
Police identified the suspects as Rene Marcelino, owner of the chainsaw used in cutting trees; Arnel Acolintava, the chainsaw operator; and Rodulfo Tampipi, owner of the trees. They are all residents of Brgy. Lacaron, Dao.
Authorities recovered from the suspects 12 pieces of lumber and a chainsaw.
Concerned residents reported the trio to the police.
The confiscated lumbers are in the custody of the Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (CaPENRO) for proper disposition and filing of cases.
