BACOLOD CITY – Three brothers were among four individuals arrested as police seized a total of PHP 850,000 worth of suspected shabu in separate buy-bust operations in Bacolod City on Saturday, Nov. 7.
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) reported that the two operations yielded approximately 125 grams of suspected shabu.
The biggest drug haul was recorded in Barangay 2, where police arrested a 37-year-old man identified as alias “Jad,” a resident of Barangay 13.
Operatives confiscated approximately 100 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of PHP 680,000.
Police classified Jad as a high-value individual involved in alleged illegal drug activities.
He is currently detained at Police Station 2 pending the filing of appropriate charges.
Earlier that day, operatives of the BCPO City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) arrested three brothers during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tangub.
The operation yielded approximately 25 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP 170,000.
Police identified the suspects as alias “Keng,” 21; “Renren,” 29; and “Toto,” 24, all residents of Barangay Tangub.
According to a report from the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), Keng was allegedly involved in illegal drug activities in Barangays Tangub, 10 and 12.
The three suspects are detained at Police Station 8.
PRO-NIR Director Brig. Gen. Rudecindo Reales emphasized that all arrested individuals must be dealt with in accordance with the law.
“Let this serve as a reminder that illegal drug activities carry consequences,” he warned.
Reales said the campaign against illegal drugs is not only about arresting suspected offenders but also about protecting families and preventing communities from suffering the harmful effects of illegal substances.
“We will remain relentless in going after those involved in the illegal drug trade,” he said in a statement.
He also called on Negrenses to remain vigilant and actively participate in efforts to keep their communities safe and free from illegal drugs.
The suspects are expected to face appropriate charges under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, subject to the evidence gathered during the operations.
