Three arrested in separate Capiz drug busts

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Three people were arrested in separate anti-drug operations across Capiz from Saturday to Monday, police said.
A tricycle driver was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Sitio Lumbaya, Barangay Nasunogan, Dao, at noon Sunday, July 26.
The operation was conducted by the Dao Municipal Police Station’s drug enforcement unit and the Capiz Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit.
Police identified the suspect only as “Dodoy,” 42, a resident of Barangay Malonoy, Dao.
A police officer acting as a buyer allegedly purchased a sachet of suspected shabu from the suspect for PHP 500.
Operatives also recovered a black coin purse and three additional sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 2 grams.
Police estimated the seized drugs’ market value at PHP 13,600.
The suspect admitted using illegal drugs during the previous two weeks, police said.
He remained in the custody of the Dao Municipal Police Station.
In a separate operation, the Dumarao Municipal Police Station’s drug enforcement team arrested an alleged provincial priority drug suspect in Poblacion Ilawod, Dumarao, on Saturday night, July 25.
Police identified the suspect only as “Toto,” an adult resident of the area.
The operation was conducted by police units from Dumarao, Cuartero, and Dao, along with the Capiz Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, under the supervision of the Capiz Police Provincial Office.
Operatives recovered about 1 gram of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of PHP 6,800, police said.
Police described the suspect as a repeat offender who was released from custody in 2020 after entering a plea-bargaining agreement.
He remained in the custody of the Dumarao Municipal Police Station pending the filing of charges.
In another operation, police arrested a man in Barangay Cudian, Ivisan, on Monday morning, July 27.
Police identified the suspect only as “Ben,” an adult resident of Barangay Ilaya, Ivisan.
Operatives recovered three sachets of suspected shabu and PHP 500 in marked buy-bust money, police said.
The suspect remained in the custody of the Ivisan Municipal Police Station.
Police said the three suspects would face charges under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
