BACOLOD CITY – Police arrested three individuals and seized PHP 353,600 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Purok Proper, Barangay Malubon, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, on Thursday, Nov. 5.
The suspects were identified as alias “Kim,” 29, a fighting cock handler; alias “John,” 21; and alias “Jon,” 30, all residents of Cadiz City.
According to a report from the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), Kim had been the subject of several previous unsuccessful buy-bust attempts.
Based on intelligence information, he was allegedly supplying illegal drugs to several drug personalities in Cadiz City and nearby areas.
On the day of the operation, police initially attempted to conduct a buy-bust in Victorias City, but the operation yielded negative results.
The operating team subsequently coordinated with another informant who provided information about Kim’s alleged illegal drug activities at a private residence in Barangay Malubon, Sagay City.
The information led to a successful buy-bust operation that resulted in Kim’s arrest, along with two other individuals who were present at the residence.
Police recovered suspected shabu with an estimated value of PHP 353,600 during the operation.
The arrests form part of the continuing campaign against illegal drugs in the Negros Island Region, which covers Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental and Siquijor.
PRO-NIR Director Brig. Gen. Rudecindo Reales reiterated the regional police command’s commitment to preventing illegal drug activities from gaining a foothold in local communities.
“We will sustain our focused efforts against illegal drug activities and ensure that those responsible are brought before the law,” Reales warned.
Authorities have yet to disclose the specific charges to be filed against the three suspects.
