PILAR, Capiz – Three persons were caught in the act conducting illegal cockfighting or “tupada” at around 10 a.m. Sunday at Barangay Dayhagan, Pilar, Capiz.
After receiving and confirming reports on the illegal cockfight, the Pilar police raided the place and arrested Joesi Alvaro, 59; Jemar Juanillo, 29; and Kerr Bartolome, 18, all residents of Barangay Dayhagan, Pilar, Capiz.
Recovered from the suspects were eight fighting cocks and betting money. They are presently in the custody of the Pilar police station.
The Pilar Municipal Police Station is set to file charges for violations of Article 199 of the Revised Penal Code (Forms of Gambling and Betting) Presidential Decree No. 449 (Cockfighting Law).
