ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Police arrested three individuals for illegal gambling at around 12:13 a.m. on Jan. 25 in Barangay San Pedro, Tapaz, Capiz.
The Tapaz Municipal Police Station identified the suspects by the aliases “Jun,” “Bot,” and “Toto,” all of legal age and residents of Tapaz.
Police caught the suspects in the act of playing “cara y cruz,” also known as “tumbo.”
Recovered from the suspects were four coins used for the game, PHP 2,547 in bet money, a plastic container with chalk, and a concrete table used for gambling.
The suspects and confiscated items are now in the custody of the Tapaz Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
Meanwhile, Tapaz police also conducted an operation at noon on Jan. 23 after receiving intelligence information about alleged illegal cockfighting in Barangay Taft, Tapaz.
However, operatives failed to arrest any suspects after those involved fled before police arrived.
Authorities recovered game fowl and several pieces of paraphernalia used for the illegal activity.
The Tapaz Municipal Police Station is continuing its investigation to identify those responsible for the illegal cockfighting operation.
