The days were dark and gloomy, every day seems to be blue and grey. The rain won’t stop, the whole place dimmed for the light has passed and darkness blanketed the whole place, it feels like the sun won’t be up anytime soon.
Anguish, grieve, adversity. The hope is gone and is nowhere to be found, that was something the people who were affected by the typhoons Quinta, Rolly, and Ulysses thought. But, the green spirits held on to their faith and made a way to bring the light back again.
Despite the hindrance and big bars that were built by the COVID-19 pandemic for how many months, the Iloilo Girl Scout Council has opened “Donasyon Para Sa Pagbangon”, a drive and a tomorrow to the victims of the typhoon — a movement by the council’s SAVER Team and SCPB Province and City Officers.

Through simple clicks on Facebook and other social media platforms, the people behind the call had successfully disseminated the information all around Iloilo. Warranting that the graciousness of every individual is remembered, the people behind the scenes, the SAVER Team and SCPB Province City, the volunteers, and the whole Iloilo Girl Scout Council showed gratefulness and appreciation to each and every one.

The volunteers spent long days and sleepless nights staying over at the council to re-pack and arrange the donations received in big boxes. On the first three days, they received more than 50 boxes of in-kind donations and PHP 22,660.00 from cash donations. During the last day of re-packing, it was counted that there were 135 boxes and 133 sacks that include clothes, relief goods, water bottles, alcohols, hygiene kits, face masks, and face shields. All in total, the cash donations are PHP50,383.00.
Truly, the kind and warm hearts of Ilonggos never fail. Their generosity and sympathy to those who are in need are genuinely appreciated. With their small acts, sharing and spreading the solicitation through social media, donating any amount and kind of donation, and even volunteering made a huge impact especially in this time of pandemic. It shows how real and pure their hearts are to give a hand for those who are in need and deprived.
It was also a great opportunity for the members of Iloilo Girl Scouts to bond and talk again after a lot of months of not being able to be with together physically. Though it was admitted that the girls missed each other, the safety protocols were still followed. In a way, as Girl Scouts, they were able to do service and catch up with their friends too.
