Edgar Wright’s highly anticipated sci-fi thriller The Running Man hits Philippine cinemas on November 5, promising a heart-pounding cinematic ride with Glen Powell in the lead.
Set in a dystopian future, the film follows working-class father Ben Richards, played by Powell, who joins a brutal televised death game to save his ailing daughter.
In this televised nightmare, “Runners” must survive 30 days while evading elite assassins, with every move broadcast to a thrill-hungry audience across the nation.
“Millions hunt. One runs. Everyone watches,” declares the film’s chilling tagline.
Directed by Edgar Wright, known for cult hits like Baby Driver and Shaun of the Dead, the film blends breakneck action with biting social commentary.
Powell’s performance as Richards explores themes of survival, sacrifice, and rebellion, as his character becomes an unlikely national hero and symbol of resistance.
Joining Powell are Oscar® nominee Josh Brolin as Dan Killian, the show’s slick but ruthless producer, and Emmy® winner Colman Domingo in an undisclosed but pivotal role.
As ratings climb and public obsession grows, Ben Richards must outsmart not only the Hunters but an entire system built on spectacle and cruelty.
Wright’s adaptation reimagines Stephen King’s novel (written under the pseudonym Richard Bachman) for a modern audience, pushing themes of media manipulation and class warfare to the forefront.
The film’s release is timed for global theatrical impact, with the Philippines among the first countries to screen it.
The Running Man premieres in theaters nationwide on November 5, with more promotional content to follow across Universal Pictures PH’s social media platforms. (Photo credit: Paramount Pictures)
