BACOLOD City – The head of Task Force Kasanag, a civil society group here will bring to the Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) attention the complaint of some residents against the closure of a passageway.
TFK founder and national commander John Chiong said residents of Purok Fire in Barangay 8 here asked their help in the complaint against the closure of their main passageway after a perimeter fence was built by the Bacolod Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Chiong said that 25 to 28 affected families have requested his assistance to air their concern to the DILG and the national BFP office.
Residents are set to file a formal complaint which will be forwarded by the TFK to the BFP.
Chiong, who met with the residents, assured them that their concern will also be brought to the attention of DILG Secretary Eduardo Año.
The affected residents claimed that the local BFP constructed the perimeter fence without any formal prior notice.
They staged a protest in the area Thursday.
Senior Supt. Jerry Candido, BFP-6 regional director, said the fencing project has yet to be turned over to them.
Candido said procedures need to be followed if there are alterations to be done.
On the other hand, Punong Barangay Johanna Magalona of Brgy. 8 said there is another passageway behind the facility.
But Magalona said the land is privately owned and could also be closed any time.
