BACOLOD City – Task Force Kasanag national commander John Chiong and Bacolod City Councilor Lady Gles Gonzales-Pallen, president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) here, have partnered in the campaign against illegal drugs.
Chiong paid a courtesy visit to Pallen’s office at Barangay Taculing here Wednesday.
TFK, as a civil society organization, is an advocate against illegal drugs and other illegal activities.
Pallen said that illegal drugs is a serious problem that barangay captains have been dealing with.
She said that while many suspected drug peddler have surrendered, many are still engaged in the illegal trade for lack of alternative livelihood.
“We have to give them something that will sustain their existence, so that they will not return to the said illegal activity,” Pallen said.
Both Chiong and Pallen said that they will gather barangay officials and Department of Interior and Local Government Undersecretary Martin Dino as soon as the situation starts to normalize.
Pallen also expressed support for other advocacies of TFK such as peace, progress and development.
