It seems like more tennis players are adding up to the list of those positive for COVID-19.
World no. 81 Frances Tiafoe announced that he contracted the virus and will have to withdraw from all tournaments he’s lined up with, including the All-American Team Cup special event.
The recent tournament Tiaofoe withdrew from was an exhibition in Atlanta organized by John Isner.
“Unfortunately, I tested positive late Friday for COVID-19 and have to withdraw from the All-American Team Cup special event this weekend. Over the past two months, I have been training in Florida and tested negative there as recently as a week ago,” said Tiaofe.
The 22-year-old tennis rising star is hoping for a breakout year this 2020 after defeating former world no. 6 Kevin Anderson during the 2019 Australian Open.
This has been a disastrous month for the world of tennis after Novak Djokovic’s Adria Tour tennis exhibition resulted in players and coaches testing positive for the virus including Djokovic, Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric, Viktor Troicki, and Goran Ivanisevic, Djokovic’s coach.
