Ten nabbed for illegal cockfight

Ten persons were arrested for allegedly engaging in pauwak or illegal cockfight on Jan 29, 2023 in Arevalo, Iloilo City.
The suspects were collared in separate police operations at barangays Calaparan and Sooc
Apprehended were Joemar Odronia, 53, and Daryll Hortillas, 33, both of Barangay San Jose Molo, Iloilo City; Arnold Puga, 45, of Barangay Mabolo Delgado, City Proper; and Roy Sadsad, 40, Jose Delijo, 58, and Larry Opinion, 61, all residents of Sooc village.
Members of the Iloilo City Police Station 6 arrested the suspects at 10:25 a.m. Sunday following a tip about an ongoing illegal cockfight in the area
Recovered during the operation were two fighting cocks, a ring net, and P3,700 cash.
At around 12 p.m., ICPS6 operatives arrested the four other suspects in Calaparan village.
They were identified as Alfonso Serisola, 21; Alejandro Pinggol, 34; Rene Cakantas, 37; and Divine Balana, 44. All are residents of the said place.
Police seized cash of P1,509, a ring net, and two fighting cocks.
All suspects are now detained and will be charged for violation of Presidential Decree 449 (Cockfighting Law of 1974).
