Filipina teen weightlifter Rose Jean Ramos grabbed the spotlight during the 2021 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Youth World Championships after collecting two golds and one silver medal.
The 16-year-old Filipina pride wowed everyone in attendance in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as she hauled gold medals in both the snatch and the total.
Ramos raised the championship trophy after lifting the winning weight of 67 kilograms in the snatch and 147 kilograms in the total.
Meanwhile, in the clean and jerk category, Ramos clinched the silver medal after scoring 80 kilograms in the women’s 45-kg division.
In just two days, the Philippine weightlifting team was able to collect a total of four medals courtesy of Ramos and Jeaneth Hipolito.
Hipolito, also a Filipina teen weightlifter, kicked off team PH’s bid in the IWF as she won a bronze medal in the snatch category of her weight class.
After a scintillating start for team PH in the IWF, four more weightlifters: Adrian Cristobal, Albert Ian Delos Santos, Christian Rodriguez, and Lovely Inan are set to dazzle the international stage.
