A 16-year-old suspected drug peddler escaped arrest during a police anti-narcotics operation Tuesday afternoon, April 15, in Jaro, Iloilo City.
The suspect, identified only as alias Kyle, fled the scene but left behind his 21-year-old live-in partner, alias Bebe.
Members of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 were supposed to arrest Kyle after he allegedly handed over a sachet of suspected shabu worth PHP14,000 during a buy-bust operation at their house in Barangay Lanit, Jaro.
He managed to run off after realizing he was dealing with police operatives.
Maj. Marvin Villanueva, deputy chief of RPDEU 6, said authorities recovered five more sachets and knot-tied plastic bags of suspected shabu from the scene.
The seized drugs weighed about 180 grams and had an estimated standard drug price of PHP1,224,000.
Villanueva said police had monitored the couple for one month before the operation.
According to informants, however, the pair had allegedly been peddling shabu for more than three months.
Villanueva also said Kyle’s parents are detained over a drug-related offense.
