A teenage boy was arrested after he was accused of carnapping in San Dionisio, Iloilo.
Alias Jim (real name withheld), 17, was arrested at his place at Barangay Buenavista, Carles town around 3:30 p.m. of February 23.
Members of Carles Police Station led by Major Nestor Bacuyag arrested Jim who is facing a carnapping charge in Criminal Case No. 2921-9715.
Judge Jose Mauricio Gomez of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 66 in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo issued the arrest warrant on January 20, 2021.
Jim, along with his two friends, was accused of violating Republic Act 10883 (The New Anti-carnapping Act of 2016).
A bail bond of PHP300,000 was recommended for their temporary freedom.
It was gathered that the three were caught for taking a parked motorcycle in Barangay Bagacay, San Dionisio in 2020.
The case was initially discussed before the barangay level but the complainant and the family of the three suspects did not reach a settlement.
Jim is now detained for proper disposition of his case.
