BACOLOD City – A 19-year-old boy believed to be a member of the Yunit Militia of the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested for five counts of rape in Barangay Rumirang, Isabela, Negros Occidental yesterday.
The teenage-suspect, who is tagged as the ninth most wanted person (MWP) in Western Visayas, was an alleged member of Central Negros (CN) 1, Komiteng Rehiyon – Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor (KR-NCBS), according to the police.
The arrest warrant with no bail recommended was issued by Presiding Judge Cyclamen Jison Fernandez of the Regional Trial Court Branch 63 in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental on January 23, 2024.
Joint operatives of the tracker team of the 2nd Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company (Nocpmfc), Isabela town police force, Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU)-6, and the 300th Air Intelligence and Security Wing of the Philippine Air Force conducted the operation against the suspect, whose name was withheld.
The wanted suspect is now under the custody of Isabela Municipal Police Station.
In a statement, Police Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor, director of Police Regional Office (PRO)-6, complimented the dedicated efforts of law enforcement agencies in swiftly apprehending the region’s top 9 MWP involved in a rape case.
