Teen killed in motorcycle crash

A teenage boy was killed after his motorcycle crashed into a concrete wall Monday (October 5) evening in Dumangas, Iloilo.
Police identified the victim as Michael June Gadia, 17, a resident of Barangay Ilaya 3rd, Dumangas.
Police Major Joven Arevalo, Dumangas police chief, said the incident happened around 8:40 p.m., as Gadia was driving home.
Witnesses said the victim slowed down and turned right before accelerating and plowed into the concrete wall of a roadside house.
Arevalo surmised that Gadia might have initially lost control of the motorcycle, as he was navigating through heavy rain.
Instead of the brake, he could have pedaled on the gas, the reason why his motorcycle suddenly accelerated before the crash.
Gadia was also not wearing a crash helmet when the incident happened.
He was taken to Ramon Duremdes Memorial District Hospital in Dumangas town but died while undergoing treatment.
