BACOLOD City – An 18-year-old boy died while his companion was wounded after their motorcycle rammed into a truck parked on the roadside of Barangay Patun-an, Calatrava, Negros Occidental last Monday.
Killed in the accident was Christian Arellano of Barangay Lalong while his companion Larry Delima, 20, of Barangay Menchaca, was wounded.
Police Major Lumyaen Lidawan, Calatrava town police chief, said the victims were riding their motorcycle driven by Arellano when they hit the rear part of a truck.
Lidawan said that the truck encountered mechanical trouble and an early warning device was placed in the area.
“Medyo madilim ang area,” he added.
The victims were allegedly speeding on their way home and were believed to be drunk, Lidawan said.
The employer of the truck driver and the families of the victims met later that day for a settlement.
