Teen dies after saving sister from drowning

A teenage boy died while trying to save his younger sister from drowning afternoon of August 14 in Dumangas, Iloilo.
The body of Dan Michael Publico, 14, of Barangay Jardin, Dumangas, was found around an hour later.
He was rushed to Ramon Duremdes Memorial District Hospital in Dumangas town but was declared dead on arrival.
According to reports, Dan Michael and his sister, 12-year-old Krisha Lee Publico, went swimming with their family at the seawaters at Sitio Bo-ol, Barangay Sapao.
Police Staff Sergeant Terence John Soria, Dumangas police investigator, said that the two swam at the deeper portion of the beach.
Shortly later, Krisha Lee was seen struggling in the water. His brother tried to save her.
The girl was later rescued but was unconscious.
Luckily, she was revived.
However, Dan Michael did not resurface.
An hour later, his body was recovered around the area where he drowned.
