Teen, companion caught with PHP 680,000 worth of shabu

BACOLOD CITY — A male teenager and his alleged cohort were arrested Tuesday in a buy-bust operation that led to the seizure of PHP 680,000 worth of suspected shabu in Purok Lilang, Barangay Banago.

Operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit apprehended “Noy,” 18, a tricycle driver from Barangay Tangub, and “Tamtam,” 26, from Barangay Banago.

Police Lt. Richard Legada, assistant CDEU head, said Noy was reportedly distributing illegal drugs to various barangays in the city.

After two weeks of surveillance, a police agent was able to buy suspected shabu from him for PHP 1,000 during the sting operation.

The buy-bust yielded around 100 grams of suspected shabu.

Legada said Noy was classified as a high-value individual, while his companion was categorized as a street-level target.

He also confirmed that neither suspect is on any barangay drug watchlist.

Both suspects are currently detained at Police Station 3.

The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region said the operation underscores the importance of community cooperation in combating illegal drugs.

The regional office also urged all Negrenses and Siquijodnons to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and continue supporting law enforcement efforts.
