A 45-year-old teacher was believed to have died instantly after he was shot late afternoon on Sept. 30 in Dueñas, Iloilo.
Reports said alias “Richard,” a resident of Ponong Grande, Dueñas, was driving his vehicle from Passi City going home when the incident happened.
As he was navigating Ponong Grande around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, a gunman suddenly emerged from a sugarcane plantation.
The assailant immediately fired at the driver’s side, hitting the victim on the head.
The suspect left the victim’s two minor sons unharmed. He then fled on a motorcycle.
The victim was rushed to Don Valerio Palmares Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Passi City but was declared dead on arrival.
Capt. Francis John Layog, Dueñas police chief, said they have yet to identify any person of interest behind the incident.
He said they are still gathering CCTV footage to aid the investigation.
