BACOLOD City – A teacher died after his motorcycle collided with a sports utility vehicle (SUV) at Barangay Tangub here last Thursday.
Police identified the victim as Jojit Aujero, 47, of Manapla, Negros Occidental.
Police Major Joery Puerto, head of Police Station 8, said Aujero was on his way to the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) here to get his cash loan, when the accident occurred.
Puerto said that an Isuzu MUX driven by a 32-year-old man from Barangay Taculing here was tailing Aujero’s motorcycle when it hit the rear part of the latter’s vehicle.
“Medyo dasig dalagan niya kag nalambot niya ang motor,” the station commander added.
Puerto said Aujero was wearing a helmet, but he was dragged and thrown off his motorcycle, causing severe head injuries. The victim died on the spot, he added.
Puerto said the SUV driver, whose name was withheld, was rushed to a hospital after he suffered hypertension.
He was unharmed in the accident.
Puerto said the SUV driver was already released from police custody later that day after the lapse of his 18-hour reglementary detention.
He also said that both parties agreed to amicably settle the incident.
