TD ‘Lannie’ estimated damage to Iloilo crops more than P12 million

The Office of Civil Defense-Region 6 (OCD-6) reported on Thursday that Tropical Depression (TD) ‘Lannie’ damaged P12.2 million worth of agricultural products in Iloilo province alone.
According to the OCD-6’s Situational Report No. 3, the region suffered up to P12.22 million in losses, with up to 942.03 hectares of crop areas affected.
Additional details released by the OCD-6 indicated that these damages were reported in the Iloilo towns of Banate, Barotac Viejo, Pototan, San Enrique, San Rafael, and Zarraga.
EFFECTS
The additional report given by the OCD-6 indicated that 63 barangays in Capiz, Iloilo, Iloilo City, and Bacolod City were affected by flooding as of 7:00 p.m. of Oct. 6, including in:
- Iloilo City – 17 barangays (4 flooded, 3 receding, and others already subsided);
- Mambusao, Capiz – 12 barangays (2 flooded, 4 receding, and others already subsided);
- Sigma, Capiz – 12 barangays flooded;
- Panit-an, Capiz – 6 barangays flooded;
- Jamindan, Capiz – 6 barangays subsided;
- Dao, Capiz – 4 barangays subsided;
- Dumalag, Capiz – 2 barangays subsided;
- Zarraga, Iloilo – 2 barangays flooded; and
- Bacolod City – 2 barangays flooded.
As of this writing, no information has been given as to whether or not the barangays in Zarraga and Bacolod City have subsided.
AFFECTED POPULATION
The number of persons affected by TD Lannie as of 7 p.m. Wednesday included 7,748 individuals and 1,626 families in 19 barangays in Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo City, and Iloilo province, based on the additional info.
Majority of those affected were from Banate, Iloilo, with 7,500 individuals and 1,500 families affected.
This was followed by Iloilo City with 164 individuals and 50 families, Zarraga, Iloilo with 62 individuals and 17 families; Buenavista, Guimaras with 51 families; and Mambusao, Capiz with 22 individuals and 8 families.
The report stated that displaced persons are currently staying at 7 evacuation centers across the region, comprised of 55 displaced families and 179 individuals while 20 families and 69 displaced individuals are staying outside evacuation centers.
