TBA Studios has announced a special ticket price of PHP 250 for students and teachers to watch its historical biopic “Quezon” when it premieres in Philippine cinemas on October 15.
To avail of the discounted rate, students and teachers must present a valid school ID at participating cinemas nationwide.
According to TBA President and COO Daphne O. Chiu-Soon, the initiative aims to encourage the academic community to experience the film on the big screen.
“The best way to watch ‘Quezon’ is on the big screen,” Chiu-Soon said.
“We are encouraging Filipinos to watch and experience ‘Quezon’ in the cinema, where it is meant to be seen,” she added.
Chiu-Soon described the film as a world-class cinematic experience, highlighting its ensemble cast led by Jericho Rosales as Manuel L. Quezon and Iain Glen of “Game of Thrones” as Leonard Wood.
“TBA Studios designed ‘Quezon’ to be a true cinematic experience,” she said.
The movie also features Benjamin Alves as young Manuel L. Quezon and Mon Confiado as Emilio Aguinaldo, reprising their roles from “Heneral Luna” and “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral.”
Arron Villaflor returns as Joven Hernando, joined by Cris Villanueva as the older Hernando, with supporting performances from Romnick Sarmenta, JC Santos, Karylle, and others.
Directed by Jerrold Tarog, “Quezon” is the conclusion to TBA Studios’ acclaimed “Bayaniverse” trilogy, which includes the box-office hit “Heneral Luna” (2015) and the critically praised “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral” (2018).
The film follows Manuel L. Quezon during the American occupation as he maneuvers through rivalries with Leonard Wood, Sergio Osmeña, Joven Hernando, and Emilio Aguinaldo in the 1935 presidential elections.
The story portrays Quezon’s use of charm and political strategy in a campaign that reshaped Philippine politics and history.
Chiu-Soon noted that while “Quezon” concludes the trilogy, it also stands alone as a complete narrative.
The studio is open to eventually making the film available on streaming platforms but emphasized its focus on a theatrical-first release.
“Quezon” will debut exclusively in Philippine theaters on October 15, with an international release scheduled at a later date.
For guidelines on availing of the student and teacher discount, viewers are advised to contact their preferred cinema.
