BACOLOD City – Task Force Kasanag, a civil society group founded in Negros Occidental, will mark its 14th anniversary at the Rizal Park in Davao City on July 3, 2023.
TFK founder and national commander Dr. John J. Chiong, said Vice President Sara Duterte is the guest speaker in the anniversary program with former Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte.
Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte and Davao 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte are also expected to grace the occasion, Chiong said.
He also said that La Castellana Mayor Rhummyla Nicor-Mangilimutan is the lone mayor awardee from Negros Occidental during the occasion.
The mayor is commended for her contribution to the growth of the organization and upholding its advocacies, Chiong said.
Chiong recalled that TFK started with just a handful of individuals who wanted to contribute to the betterment of society.
TFK advocates against terrorism, criminality, all forms of illegal activities especially illegal drugs, graft and corruption in government and uphold peace and development.
Starting from its first chapter in Negros Occidental, Chiong said TFK after 14 years has established chapters in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, including abroad, and now has over a hundred thousand members of volunteers.
Last year, Chiong said TFK celebrated its anniversary in Luzon and it is the turn of Mindanao in 2023. The celebration will go back to Visayas in 2024.
Aside from the main anniversary event in Davao City, chapters all over the country will have a simultaneous celebration in their respective areas.
Chiong said TFK has facilitated the filing of complaints by civilians against officials and concerned government agencies.
He also said that the organization has undergone cleansing of its ranks, particularly those who used the name of TFK for their personal interest like asking for contributions from complainants which is prohibited.
Chiong said that TFK is currently focusing more on the quality rather than quantity of its members.
This year’s anniversary theme is “Love of God and love of country, TFK soaring high.”
