A barangay tanod remains at large after allegedly shooting his drunk brother-in-law early morning of May 11 at Libacao, Iloilo.
Police identified the suspect as Weny Zonio, 43, of Barangay Pampango, Libacao.
The victim, 42-year-old Gyrel Lanciso, also of Pampango village, was hit on the left side of his body.
The incident happened when the drunken Lanciso was shouting at the top of his lungs inside his house.
He was allegedly calling out the names of some barangay officials and tanods or watchmen in their area.
Zonio, who was residing at the adjacent house, allegedly cautioned the victim to tone down his voice.
This sparked an argument between the two. The victim, armed with a bamboo pole, went out of their house to confront the suspect.
Zonio also went out of their home with a handgun.
He allegedly fired a warning shot, but it did not deter the victim from coming near him.
This allegedly prompted the suspect to shoot Lanciso.
The victim was immediately taken to Libacao Infirmary for treatment.
