A barangay tanod was arrested in San Joaquin, Iloilo, over alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Police identified the suspect as alias “Dodoy,” 48, of Barangay Siwaragan in San Joaquin.
Members of the San Joaquin Municipal Police Station arrested him in a roadside buy-bust operation in Barangay Siwaragan early evening on Feb. 21, 2026.
Police said the suspect allegedly sold one sachet of suspected shabu for PHP 4,150.
Police said a subsequent frisk led to the recovery of three more sachets of suspected shabu.
San Joaquin police chief Capt. Isagani Tabares said the seized suspected shabu weighed about 120 grams and had an estimated street value of PHP 816,000.
Police said they launched the operation after receiving complaints from residents about the suspect’s alleged drug activities.
Police said the suspect had been under surveillance for three weeks before the operation.
Tabares said the suspect allegedly sourced his drug supply from Iloilo City.
Police said the suspect was a “Tokhang” surrenderer but was not included on the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council list of illegal drug personalities.
Police said the suspect is under the custody of the San Joaquin Municipal Police Station.
Police said he will face charges for alleged violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
