BACOLOD City – Drunkenness triggered a village watchman to hack dead a colleague at Barangay Inolingan, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
Police identified the victim as Noli Carpentero, 48, of the said village.
Police Major Randy Babor, town police chief, said the victim and suspect identified as 42-year-old Agie Banares were drinking liquor when a heated argument ensued between them, prompting Banares to hack Carpentero.
“Migohay man na daw sila, galing nakainom lang sila that time,” Babor said.
The victim suffered hack wounds on the head, shoulder, and body.
He was taken to the town’s infirmary but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Babor said the suspect surrendered to the village chief and was later turned over to the police along with the bolo used in the crime.
