BACOLOD City – Murder charges are being readied against a man who hacked a village watchman in Barangay Mansablay, Isabela, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Ruben Teves, 58, of the said village.
Police Captain Joseph Partidas, Isabela town police chief, said the suspect identified as 25-year-old Jason Piojo allegedly hid in the sugarcane field while waiting for Teves to pass by on his way home from a birthday party.
Piojo then attacked the victim, hitting his neck and continued hacking him again even after he fell to the ground, according to the police.
Teves was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Partidas said they are looking into grudges as the motive in the incident after they received information that Teves allegedly killed the suspect’s father.
“May dumot na siguro ang suspect,” he added.
