BACOLOD CITY — To strengthen police visibility and crime prevention efforts, Mayor Rowena “Weng” Lizares announced the establishment of three new police substations in key areas of Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
The substations will be located in Barangays Dos Hermanas and Concepcion—both densely populated—as well as along the national highway between Bacolod and Talisay.
These outposts, which will utilize container vans, are intended to secure the growing number of entry points into the city, especially with new express roads connecting Bacolod City and Murcia.
Lizares, in a recent media interview, emphasized the need for heightened security, especially following the discovery of five bodies in separate incidents across the barangays of Concepcion, Matab-ang, and Dos Hermanas last month.
The identities of three of the victims remain unknown.
To support the city’s peace and order initiatives, Lizares said they will also enlist the help of force multipliers, including barangay tanods and the Citizens Crime Watch, to complement the efforts of the local police.
She has directed Police Col. Alvin Christopher Baybayan, chief of Talisay City Police Station, to intensify law enforcement operations across the city.
Lizares earlier ordered a thorough investigation into the incidents and assured the public that the local government will fully support police efforts to bring justice to the victims.
On August 11, two bodies were discovered in Barangay Concepcion and another in Barangay Matab-ang, while two more bodies—a man and a woman—were found in Dos Hermanas on August 29.
Only the identities of the two victims in Barangay Concepcion have been confirmed by authorities.
