TALISAY CITY — Talisaynons can expect more accessible health services as the Central Sub-Provincial Health System strengthens collaboration among local government units in Negros Occidental under the Universal Health Care framework.
Mayor Rowena “Weng” Lopez-Lizares joined fellow local chief executives from the 3rd and 4th Districts and members of the Central Sub-Provincial Inter-Local Health Zone during the Central Sub-Provincial Health Systems Meeting on Oct. 14 at Nature’s Village Resort in Barangay Zone 15, Talisay City.
The meeting focused on enhancing inter-LGU cooperation to ensure effective healthcare delivery and a unified approach to public health management.
Key agenda items included Universal Health Care implementation in Negros Occidental, updates on the Negros Occidental Health Care Provider Network, the election of chair and co-chair local chief executives, and updates on PhilHealth YAKAP and the Performance Commitment Framework.
Mayor Lopez-Lizares was elected LCE chair of the Central Sub-Provincial Health Zone, representing local government units in the 3rd and 4th Districts.
This recognition underscores her continuing leadership and commitment to improving public health systems and expanding healthcare access for Talisaynons and neighboring communities.
“This milestone reflects our shared vision for a healthier, more resilient Negros Occidental,” Lopez-Lizares said.
She emphasized that healthcare will remain a top priority under her GwapaNgaPanghimanwa Asenso platform of governance.
Through the Central Sub-Provincial Health System, Talisay City is set to benefit from stronger coordination among health facilities, streamlined referral systems, and expanded access to essential medical services.
These efforts aim to ensure that every Talisaynon receives compassionate, efficient, and equitable healthcare closer to home.
The Sub-Provincial Health System forms part of the province’s broader initiative to fully operationalize the Universal Health Care Law by integrating and harmonizing local and provincial health services.
This framework promotes shared responsibility, resource pooling, and joint health planning among LGUs and health offices to ensure no Negrense is left behind in accessing quality healthcare.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson earlier said establishing Sub-Provincial Health Systems is a major step toward UHC goals in Negros Occidental, where all residents will have access to affordable, continuous, and coordinated services.
For Talisay City, the development signals another stride toward a progressive, people-centered community where health and well-being anchor sustainable growth, Lopez-Lizares said.
