The MJAS Zenith-Talisay City squad showed pure dominance after completing an undefeated 10-0 elimination record in the 2021 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup Visayas Leg.
With the perfect finish, the Talisay squad automatically clinched the Visayas leg finals ticket and will have to wait for their opponents.
The Patrick Cabahug led Talisay squad pulled off a demolition operation against the tough ARQ Builders Lapu-Lapu, 99-62, to nab their 10th straight win of the season.
“Malaking bagay sa amin na makuha namin yung sweep para makapahinga kami. Siguro masasabi ko lang is all of this is because of the players. They deserve to rest,” said head coach Aldrin Morante.
Cabahug wasted no time and spearheaded Talisay’s massive offensive display in the first quarter and immediately led, 24-9.
Talisay never looked back and continued their hot shooting from the field with four players scoring in double digits.
Cabahug led Talisay with 22 points followed by Kevin Villafranca with 12 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
Talisay star guard Paulo Hubalde did not contribute much in terms of points but was a maestro in sharing the ball after dishing out 13 huge dimes with seven boards and six points.
The first team to take the Visayas finals seat will be waiting for the winner of the stepladder format between seeds no. 3 to 6 where they will have to battle and face the no. 2 seed that’s waiting in the semifinals with a twice-to-beat advantage.
