Taho vendor nabbed in PHP 467,000 drug sting

A taho, or soy pudding, vendor was arrested in another police anti-narcotics operation late on May 16 in Molo, Iloilo City.
Alias Mar, 28, a native of Janiuay, Iloilo, who is temporarily residing in Zone 3, Barangay San Juan, Molo, was caught in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Calumpang.
Members of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 arrested the suspect after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu worth PHP 13,000 to a police poseur-buyer.
Police operatives seized 70 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price of PHP 467,000 from Mar’s possession.
Villanueva said it took more than a month of surveillance before they finally arrested the suspect.
It appeared that Mar had Molo district as his main area of distribution.
The suspect admitted that he was engaged in the illegal drug trade.
He cited poverty as what drove him to enter the illegal activity.
Mar also admitted that he was into illegal drug use.
The arrested suspect is detained and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
