ROXAS CITY, Capiz– A village chief of Barangay Inzo Arnaldo Village here refused to vacate his office after the Sanggunian Panlungsod (SP) suspended him for allegedly misusing the funds of their Sanggunian Kabataan (SK).
A commotion occurred Sunday afternoon when Punong Barangay Einstein Okpora refused to give way to his Kagawad Earvin Sicad.
Okpura was suspended for two months by the city council last week after he was found guilty of misusing SK funds without legal basis and approval of the village youth officials.
Reports said that Okpura used the SK funds last year for sports activities in their village without the knowledge of the SK officials.
According to Okpura, he and his lawyer were not notified by the decision of the city council and they were contemplating to file an appeal.
He said what happened was purely political harassment because the father of kagawad Sicad is incumbent Vice Mayor Erwin Nonoy Sicad of Roxas City.
