Suspects in construction worker slay arrested

Police have arrested two suspects who allegedly stabbed to death a construction worker on Nov. 30 in Lambunao, Iloilo.
Alias Omar, 24, and alias Dondon, 16, were nabbed at their respective houses at Barangay Cayan Oeste, Lambunao, on Dec. 1.
Major Jogen Suegay, Lambunao police chief, said they have a witness who identified Omar and Dondon as the persons who stabbed Fernando Pastrana.
The suspects and the victim’s neighbors were seen drinking together prior to the discovery of Pastrana’s body.
Suegay said the three had a verbal tussle until the two suspects ganged up on Pastrana.
The suspects denied the accusations against them.
But Suegay said they have established a case against Omar and Dondon.
Charges are yet to be filed against the two suspects.
It can be noted that the body of 31-year-old Pastrana was found at a roadside at Barangay Cayan Oeste, Lambunao, some 500 meters away from their home, at around 10:52 p.m. on Thursday.
He was rushed to Dr. Ricardo Y. Ladrido District Hospital in Lambunao town but he was declared dead on arrival.
The victim sustained at least three stab injuries – on his head, his forehead and his right eye.
Pastrana allegedly left home around 7 p.m. to buy something.
It was not immediately known where he went but his family claimed he drove his motorcycle.
The motorcycle was later found next to his body.
