BACOLOD CITY – Police are investigating possible retaliation in the killing of a suspected robber in Barangay Vista Alegre on Saturday.
The victim was identified as “Joshua,” 20, of Barangay 16.
Police Capt. Dax Santillan, head of Police Station 7, said the victim had visited his parents in the village before he was found dead in a vacant lot in Purok Arao around 2:30 a.m.
Santillan said the victim sustained gunshot wounds, believed to be from a .45 caliber firearm.
Recovered from the scene were two sacks containing suspected stolen fighting cocks and electrical wire.
Santillan said the victim had previous cases of theft and robbery and was known as a notorious robber in the village.
However, he noted that some complaints did not progress because they were not officially reported to the police.
Santillan said they are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
