BACOLOD City – An alleged member of the notorious Epogon robbery group was arrested for a theft charge at Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday.
Silay City Police Station and Hinigaran Municipal Police Station officers, as well as the Provincial Intelligence Unit and 2nd company of the Provincial Mobile Force Company nabbed Arnold Rivera on orders of Municipal Circuit Trial Court Judge Leticia Ban-Trigue.
The court set a P10,000 bail for his provisional liberty.
During the apprehension, police recovered from him a .38 caliber revolver and three live ammunition of the said firearm.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Rollie Pondevilla, Silay City police chief, claimed that Rivera is a new recruit of the Epogon robbery group.
Apart from the theft charge, Rivera will also be charged for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
Just three days ago, the group’s alleged leader, Francisco Epogon, was also arrested in Cauayan town, where the group was reportedly based.
Police earlier said the group was responsible for robberies in the province, particularly in the sixth district.
