BACOLOD City – Police are probing the death of a carpenter who was allegedly shot by New People’s Army (NPA) members at Sitio Mag-ubay, Barangay Mani-ak, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental last Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Armando Babor, 33, of the said village.
Based on the initial investigation, Babor was eating breakfast at their house when three unidentified armed persons arrived and shot him in the head and left arm.
The perpetrators, who were reportedly wearing civilian attire with cap and jacket, then fled towards the mountainous part of Barangay Calupaan.
Police recovered from the scene three fired bullets of caliber 5.56mm ammunition.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Kym Lopez, public information officer of Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (Norppo), said that an investigation is ongoing to check the background of the victim.
Police also coordinated with the intelligence unit of the Army and other intelligence communities for a case build-up.
