BACOLOD City – Authorities killed one of the suspects in a shooting episode in La Castellana, Negros Occidental last Friday during a police response at Barangay Robles.
Police Captain Romulo Gepilango, town police chief, identified the fatality as Jeffrey Servidad, 48, of Barangay Villamonte here.
Gepilango said Servidad was among the two suspects who reportedly shot Reynaldo Biaras, 24, of Barangay Robles that night.
Biaras suffered two gunshot wounds on the hand and neck. He is confined at a hospital.
Gepilango said police were able to respond to the shooting incident, as they were conducting roving patrol when the incident happened.
Police chased Servidad while his unidentified companion escaped.
Servidad fell from his motorcycle and opened fire at the police prompting them to retaliate. He was declared dead at a hospital.
Gepilango said they have yet to establish the motive for the shooting incident.
In Kabankalan City, Ramonito Gasataya, 59, of Barangay Daan Banua was gunned down by two unidentified men at the said village last Saturday.
Police records showed that the victim was riding his motorcycle when the assailants, armed with long firearms came out from the sugarcane plantation, and fired their guns at him.
Gasataya was declared dead while the gunmen fled.
