Suspect in Bacolod driver slay nabbed

BACOLOD CITY — A 37-year-old man was arrested by police hours after he allegedly shot and killed a 52-year-old driver in Barangay Alijis on Tuesday.
An initial investigation by the Bacolod City Police Office showed that the victim, identified as alias “Roger,” and the suspect, identified as alias “Budoy,” allegedly figured in a heated argument for an unknown reason.
Following the altercation, the suspect went home, took an unidentified firearm, and allegedly shot the victim several times at around 2 p.m.
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead.
Personnel of Police Station 7 launched hot-pursuit and dragnet operations, which led to the apprehension of the suspect at 6:30 p.m. in Barangay Tangub.
The suspect was positively identified by witnesses, and appropriate charges are being prepared for filing.
The BCPO assured the public that it remains committed to immediately responding to criminal incidents and relentlessly pursuing individuals responsible for violent crimes.
It also called on the public to immediately report any suspicious activity or information that may help law enforcement authorities maintain peace and security in the community.
Meanwhile, a 78-year-old man was gunned down by an unidentified assailant in Barangay Tabugon, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, on Tuesday.
According to police, alias “Karl” was on his way home from his farm, carrying a piece of bamboo, when he was reportedly waylaid and shot.
He succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.
An investigation is ongoing to establish the motive and identify the perpetrator.
