BACOLOD City-The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Bacolod said it will conduct surprise inspections of all barangays in the city who have conducted road clearing operations.
The deadline for the road-clearing operations ordered by Pres. Rodrigo Duterete is on Sept. 27, 2019.
DILG-Bacolod Director Ma. Joy Marideth Madayag, said the validating teams will check if the reports submitted by the local government units are indeed correct and compliant with the DILG’s memorandum circular.
Madayag also said barangay and city officials must take the clearing operations seriously, as the regional office of the DILG will closely monitor the highly-urbanized cities first.
She also encouraged the public to send pictures of illegal structures and other road obstructions to their official social media page for proper action.
Earlier, the city government of Bacolod reported at least 16 of the 61 barangays are currently in compliance with the DILG order requiring roads to be free of obstructions.
