BACOLOD City – Police are not discounting the possibility of foul play behind the death of a sugarcane worker who was found dead at Sitio Toril, Barangay Bandila, Toboso, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Ryan Ondoy, 33, of Calatrava town.
Police Captain Rene Boy Eduardo, deputy chief of Toboso Municipal Police Station, said the victim suffered injuries to his head.
However, police could not determine what caused the wound. Thus, he will be subjected to a postmortem examination, Eduardo said.
Eduardo said the victim was last seen alive on Monday, Jan. 23 when he asked permission from his mother that he will fetch his co-worker as they will go to Silay City for work.
The area where the victim was found was far from the rest of the neighboring houses. While there’s a house nearby, it was abandoned, thus there are no witnesses, he added.
He said they are checking the background of the victim with the Calatrava Municipal Police Station.
