Student who committed suicide had good grades
ROXAS CITY, Capiz The Milibili National High School (MNHS) here denied claims that bad grades at school pushed a 14-year-old female student to commit suicide by hanging inside their house at Sitio Arcabalo, Brgy. Milibili here.
The claims of the school debunked earlier allegations that failure to get a grade in one of her subjects forced Nene (not her real name) to take her life away.
Based on the investigation conducted by Atty. Christine Joy Banday, legal division head of the Department of Education (DepEd)-Roxas City, Nene got high grades except in Science and Araling Panlipunan subjects where she scored 76 and 79 percent, respectively.
According to MNHS principal Maria Luisa Lagaña, Nene’s parents have yet to see her card.
She said Nene got the said low grades because she was always absent and scored low in her examination.
Nene was declared dead at St. Anthony College Hospital here on Monday. A Grade 9 student, she was found hanging by her neck inside her room.
According to her parents, they last saw Nene alive while cleaning their home.
Lately, the girl confided to her parents that one of her teachers did not give her a grade.
